When does the clock start?
At the first connection to a network in Spain, not at purchase. Buying weeks ahead costs you nothing.

Do I keep my own phone number?
Yes. A zoesim adds a data line beside your usual SIM. Calls and bank codes still arrive on your own number.

When should I install it?
Before you leave, on your own wifi. Installing needs a connection; using it later does not.
