Chile
CL 5G on 1 of 1 carriersChile's mobile infrastructure is modern in cities and along the main north-south highway. WOM provides 5G in parts of Santiago, Valparaíso and other urban centres, with LTE fallback elsewhere. A travel eSIM is handy for long distances and rural stretches where public wifi is scarce.
Plans for Chile
Pick a row — it prices the box aboveArrival at Santiago airport
Santiago airport has free wifi, but it is time-limited and can be congested. Local SIM cards require passport registration, and queues can be long. With an eSIM already installed, you can book a taxi or use maps immediately.
Payment and public wifi
Chile is largely card-based; even small shops often accept credit cards. Public wifi is common in cafes and malls in cities, but less so in rural areas. Your eSIM covers you when you are away from urban centres.
Long-distance travel
Buses between cities are comfortable but journeys can be long, and onboard wifi is often unavailable or weak. With your eSIM, you can stay connected along the highway and plan stops in small towns.
Will my eSIM work in Chile?
Yes. The eSIM connects to WOM, the only network available on this plan. Install it before departure and enable data roaming to connect automatically after you land.
Does WOM have 5G in Chile?
WOM has 5G in parts of Santiago and some other cities. Outside those areas, your phone will fall back to LTE. The eSIM works on both 5G and LTE, depending on coverage.
Is there coverage in Torres del Paine?
Coverage inside the park is very limited. You may get signal at the park entrance and some refugios, but most trails have no mobile service. Download offline maps and inform someone of your route before hiking.
Can I use my eSIM on the Carretera Austral?
Along the Carretera Austral, WOM has signal in towns like Coyhaique and Puerto Río Tranquilo, but gaps are frequent between settlements. Do not depend on continuous connectivity for emergencies.
Do I need to register with a Chilean provider to use this eSIM?
No. The eSIM is already registered and activated through the travel provider. You do not need to visit a WOM store or show your passport.
What happens if I go to Easter Island?
Easter Island is part of Chile, but this eSIM plan includes only the mainland network. Check with the provider whether coverage extends to the island. If not, you may have no signal there.
